“I am sorry that so often the biggest obstacle to God has been Christians. Christians who have had so much to say with our mouths and so little to show with our lives.”

So let’s go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is—not trying to be privileged insiders, but taking our share in the abuse of Jesus. - Hebrews 13:13 (MSG)

Find the hill you are willing to die on and charge the hill. - Patrick Kelley thenines
In reading Galatians 6 this morning, I realized that I am too much like these Jewish traditionalists.
“These people who are attempting to force the ways of circumcision on you have only one motive: They want an easy way to look good before others, lacking the courage to live by a faith that shares Christ’s suffering and death. All their talk about the law is gas. They themselves don’t keep the law! And they are highly selective in the laws they do observe. They only want you to be circumcised so they can boast of their success in recruiting you to their side.” Galatians 6:11-13 (The Message)
Now replace the word circumcision with… well you fill in the blank. If you fill it with anything other than Christ, a finished work, then it is worthless. Christ plus baptism. Christ plus church membership. Christ plus saying a prayer. Now all of these things are good as long as your salvation rest solely on Christ.
Too often, my focus can be on trying to get a person to ________ and not on their relationship with Christ. I am not ok with just watering seeds, I must close the deal. But the reality is, I can’t “close the deal” anyhow. Only God can do that. My motives are all wrong. I want people to be like me, to make me look good. I should want people to be like Christ to make God look good.
So what are your thoughts on these verses?
“The war is real. Darkness vs. Light. The Devil vs. God. Furious Love, the new film from the director of the powerful and controversial documentary, Finger of God, steps fully into the battle to see if there is any darkness that God’s light cannot overcome. A revolution is on its way, and it is spreading around the world at a breakneck pace. It is a revolution of Love.”
